Wounded Knee man convicted of murder

A Wounded Knee man is convicted of murder.

U.S. Attorney Alison Ramsdell says a jury has convicted 27-year-old Spencer High Hawk, of Aiding and Abetting Second Degree Murder.

The verdict followed a four-day jury trial in federal district court in Rapid City.

The charges carry a maximum penalty of life in custody and/or a $250,000 fine

Authorities say High Hawk beat another man to death near Wounded Knee in June of 2022.

Sentencing has been set for December 1st.

The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
