Woman injured in car/bicycle accident near Volga

A Brookings woman is injured in a car-bicycle accident that happened at about 7:40 Sunday morning at Highway 14 and 462nd Avenue near Volga.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says a westbound car driven by 41-year-old Amy Stalter of DeSmet struck a bicycle that was traveling west on the shoulder of Highway 14.

The bicyclist, 23-year-old Anna Grace Bearss of Brookings, was taken by Brookings ambulance to the Brookings Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Stalter says she may have dozed off as she was fatigued and didn’t see Bearss.

The Volga Fire Department a also responded to the scene.
