Volga teen injured in Wednesday accident

A Volga teen is injured in a two vehicle accident that happened shortly after eight o’clock Wednesday morning in Volga.

Brookings County Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says a car driven by 16-year-old Evan Rathbun of Volga was southbound on Main and did not yield for the sign at 3rd Street. Sebring says Rathbun proceeded into the intersection and was struck by an SUV driven by 46-year-old Lisa Skovlund of Volga.

Rathbun was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital with unknown injuries. He was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
