Two people killed in car traveling the wrong way on I90

Two people died Saturday evening in a two-vehicle crash east of Plankinton.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a car was eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near mile marker 311 when it collided head-on with a semi-tractor trailer.

The 17-year-old male driver and a 29-year-old male passenger in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. They were not wearing seat belts. The 63-year-old male driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Names have not yet been released pending notification of family.
