Two people hurt in Brookings traffic accident

Two people receive minor injuries in a Wednesday traffic accident and car fire in Brookings.

Police Lt. Joe Fishbaugher says it was reported shortly before 10:00 am at the intersection of 20th Street South and 17th Avenue South.

He says a car was heading east on 20th treet South, behind an SUV. As the two vehicles approached the intersection, the car collided with the rear of the SUV, which caught fire.
Fishbaugher says the Brookings Fire Department responded to contain and extinguish the fire.

The driver of the car was treated at the scene by Brookings Ambulance personnel.

The SUV driver went to the emergency room by private means.
