Two people are hurt in a two-car collision at 22nd Avenue and Eastbrook Drive.

It happened at about 1:25 Tuesday afternoon.

Assistant Police Chief Derrick Powers says a small SUV driven by 60-year-old Raye Jordan of Brookings was stopped on Eastbrook, waiting to turn left onto 22nd. A large truck was northbound on 22nd, in the outside lane, and turned onto Eastbrook. Jordan did not see a pickup in the inside lane next to the truck and she turned in front of it.

Jordon’s vehicle was t-boned by the pickup.

The jaws of life were required to get Jordan out of the vehicle and she was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital.

The driver of the pickup, 49-year-old Mark McMullen of Madison, sought medical attention on his own.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Powers says both drivers were wearing seatbelts and no citations were issued.
