The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two burglaries in Elkton. Both were reported Tuesday.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says someone pried open the back door of the Elkton Lumber Yard and stole a bottle of whiskey. The liquor is valued at about $40.00, the damage to the door is estimated at $300. It happened sometime Monday or early Tuesday.

There was also a burglary at the Elkton Municipal Bar. Sebring says someone got in by breaking fence boards in the beer garden and then used a pipe to pry open the door to the bar. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. The suspect was captured on video entering the bar at 7:02 Tuesday morning. The suspect is about six-feet tall and weighs about 220 pounds with a larger belly. He was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt, black shoes, and a white hat. He was last seen fleeing the bar at 7:03 heading east across the alley toward Antelope Street.
