Two candidates file for Brookings School Board and City Council Election

Two candidates have filed for the April 12 city and school election in Brookings.

Teresa Binkley has filed for one of the two school board seats up this year. They are currently held by Melissa Heermann and Van Fishback. Heermann is not seeking reelection, instead running for the state legislature.

Bonny Specker has filed for a three-year city council seat. There are four seats up for election. The seats are currently held by Leah Brink, Holly Tilton-Byrne (three-year terms), Wayne Avery (one-year) and Patty Bacon (two years). Bacon recently announced her intention to resign.

February 25th is the deadline for school board and council candidates to file.
