Two Brookings residents are facing charges after a series of Tuesday evening incidents.

Assistant Police Chief Derrick Powers says it began at about 8:20 p.m. with the report of a fight at a residence on the 500 block of 8th Street South.

When police arrived, those involved had left the scene. Police were then called to the 1900 block of Derdall Drive where the caller was being threatened. Police got a description of the vehicle involved and were able to locate it.

There was a woman driving with a male passenger and a 3-year-old child in the backseat who was not properly restrained.

Powers says it was determined the two had allegedly broken into the residence on 8th Street and threatened the woman who lived there. She was able to drive to the Derdall address and the two suspects followed her and reportedly threatened her again.

The 38-year-old female suspect is charged with first degree burglary, driving under the influence, abuse or cruelty to a minor under the age of seven, and a child restraint violation.

The 33-year-old man is charged with ingesting a controlled substance and aiding and abetting first-degree burglary.

Police took custody of the child.
