Three people killed in home explosion near Ft. Pierre

Three people have been killed in a house explosion just southeast Ft. Pierre in Stanley County.

Two adults and an infant were killed in the blast. Two other children were injured. Killed were Bill and LaDonna Hupp and their infant grandaughter. Two other children, ages five and three, were injured in the explosion and have been taken to a burn center in Minnesota.

The children’s parents, Kelsey and Trevor Hupp, were at work when the explosion occurred.

The sheriff’s office confirmed the explosion happened late Wednesday morning. The home was leveled.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
