Three people are injured in a two-vehicle accident in Elkton.

Assistant Brookings County Sheriff Scott Sebring says it happened shortly before 10:00 o’clock Tuesday morning at an Elkton intersection.

A car driven by 15-year-old Ashleigh Rodriguez of Elkton was westbound on Fifth Street and stopped at the stop sign at Elk Street. Rodriguez says due to the high snowbanks at the intersection she didn’t see an oncoming vehicle and proceeded into the intersection.

She collided with a car driven by 30-year-old Shannon Aguilar of Elkton.

Aguilar was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital with unknown injuries by the Elkton Ambulance.

Rodriguez and a 14-year-old passenger, Isabella Rodriguez of Elkton, were transported to the Brookings Hospital in a private vehicle with unknown injuries.

Rodriguez was cited for a stop sign violation.
