Three COVID-19 deaths reported in SD in the last week; active cases fall slightly

Three COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday in the South Dakota Department of Health weekly update. The statewide total is 2901.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by one to nine. Two new cases reported since April 13th, the total is 8102. Recovered cases are at 8041. There have been 52 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “moderate” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases fall by four to 412. Total cases increase by 167 in the last week to 237,535 There are 234,222 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by nine to 38.

Seventy-two percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-nine percent have completed a vaccine series and 34percent have received a booster.
