Thousands of South Dakotans without power

Thousands of South Dakotans have dealt with or are currently experiencing power outages beacause of the massive winter storm.

Sioux Valley Energy this morning reported nearly 10,000 customers without power, most of those in Minnehaha and Lake Counties with just under 200 without electricity in Brookings County.

Southeastern Electric Cooperative was reporting more than 1200 customers without power.

Excel Energy is also dealing with outages.

The City of Madison is under an emergency energy alert as crews deal with weather-related power outages. City officials are requesting no industrial customers run today.

Officials are also asking residents conserve power as they continue to deal with downed power lines from the ongoing snowstorm.
