There are now three candidates for two Brookings City Council seats

Friday is the deadline to file for this year’s city and school election in Brookings.

Two City Council seats and one School Board seat are up for election this year.

There are three candidates for the two Council seats. Cassie Juba is the latest to file. Incumbent Ope Niemeyer filed earlier. Joey Collins has announced his intention to run and will be filing his petitions this week. The other seat is currently held by Dan Hansen, who is not seeking reelection.

The lone School Board seat up this year is held by Wes Tschetter and he has filed for reelection. He’s the only one to file thus far.

The last day to file a petition is Friday, February 28, by 5:00 p.m. The City and School Election is April 14th.
