Suspect is tasered and arrested at Brookings Walmart

A suspect is tasered and arrested in the Brookings Walmart.

Brookings police report it began with a welfare check at a local hotel on Thursday. An employee had reported that there was a lot of drinking going on and there was a child in
the room.

Police determined a female adult in the room was a victim of domestic assault. The suspect fled before police arrived, taking the victim’s car without her permission. The suspect also had a warrant out of Woodbury County, Iowa.

Police located the stolen vehicle early Friday morning. The location of the suspect was determined but he once again fled before police arrived.

Shortly before 9:40 Friday morning, police were notified the suspect was possibly in Walmart. When the suspect saw Police, he attempted to flee and obstruct Police. A taser was deployed and the suspect was taken in to custody.

No one was injured during the arrest.
