Sunday evening fire at Novita plant quickly extinguished

Several local fire departments respond to a fire at Novita Aurora. It was reported shortly before 9:00 o’clock Sunday evening.

The Aurora, Brookings, Bruce, Elkton, Sinai, Volga, and White Fire Departments all responded as did Brookings Ambulance and Brookings County Emergency
Management.

According to Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring, a piece of processing equipment on the third floor caught fire. The building was evacuated and crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Total damages are none known at this time.

This Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
