Six COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday; big jump in active cases

Six COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Tuesday. The statewide total is now 2474.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by 21 to 258. Twenty-seven new cases reported Wednesday, raising the total to 5745. Recovered cases are at 5446. There have been 41 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 600 to 7871. Total cases increase by 944 to 178,395. There are 168,050 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by 9 to 237.

Sixty-seven percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
