William Thoman
A guilty verdict for a Rapid City man accused of attempting to hire someone to kill a doctor that treated his late wife.
William Thoman is guilty of soliciting and aiding and abetting first degree murder.
Prosecutors allege Thoman asked a colleague for the name of a hit man to murder a local doctor. Thoman reportedly blamed that doctor for his wife’s death. They also say Thoman asked that same colleague to get him a gun he could use to commit the crime.
The verdict ends just over three days of testimony in the case.
Thoman will be sentenced on September 20. He faces up to 50 years in prison.
He’s still awaiting a second trial on similar charges involving a colleague and judge.
