RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – Prosecutors say two young men accused of killing a teen in Rapid City last week shot the victim during a planned robbery.

Nineteen-year-old Andre Martinez and 19-year-old Cole Waters appeared in court Friday on multiple counts, including aiding and abetting first-degree murder. They could face the death penalty or life in prison.

They are accused of killing 17-year-old Emmanuel Hinton of Box Elder on Tuesday during an apparent drug sale. Prosecutors say Martinez planned the robbery, and Waters held Martinez’s gun to Hinton’s head and shot him.

Bail for both men was set at $1 million, cash-only bond.
