Possible stolen goods found in Lions Park

Brookings police are looking for the owner or owners of some property found in Lions Park that may have been stolen.

Police Lt. Marci Gebers says tools and sporting goods were found in the park, located just off Medary Avenue,  at about 10:40 Friday morning.

Shortly before 2:00 o’clock that afternoon, a property owner reported an attempted break in at a shop on the 500 block of First Street South and forced entry into a nearby garage they also own. There was damage to the door and door jam. However, the items found in the park do not belong to that person.

Another burglary was reported on the 1000 block of First Street. At about 4:17 Saturday morning, a resident noticed lights on in the garage. Entry was forced into a walk-in door. The only thing that appears to be missing is darts from the dart board. They were not with the items found in the park.

If you live in that area, you may want to check garages or sheds and make sure nothing is missing. Also, anyone who may have video surveillance in that area is asked to check it for anything suspicious.

Anyone with information or missing items should contact police.
