Biofuels producer POET on Tuesday announced a $2 million gift for construction of the precision agriculture facility at South Dakota State University.

The two will also partner to develop academic programs in bioprocessing.

SDSU is the only university to offer both a precision agriculture major and minor.

SDSU President Barry Dunn says they are grateful for the tremendous support POET has shown toward SDSU and the precision agriculture program. He says partnering with the leading biofuels company in the world creates unique opportunities to not only grow precision agriculture at SDSU, but also expand the industry into areas where change and growth can have a positive impact on the environment and society as a whole.
