Outgoing head of the SD Board of Regents is a finalist for Nebraska Commissioner of Education

When South Dakota Board of Regents Executive Director and CEO Brian Maher announced his resignation, he said he was returning to Nebraska.

Maher has now been announced as one of four finalists for Nebraska Commissioner of Education.

According to the Nebraska State Board of Education, the finalists were selected after an extensive search in partnership with a recruiting firm.

The Board plans to interview the finalists in public meetings on March 30 with a public meeting the next day to select the next Nebraska Commissioner of Education.

Maher’s resignation from the SD Board of Regents becomes effective at the end of his contract in June.
