One Last Winter Storm for 2019

Winter Storm Gage is make a name for itself.

The South Dakota Departments of Transportation and Public Safety have closed Interstate 29 from Watertown to the North Dakota border, both north and southbound lanes.

Portions of I-29 and I-90 will remain closed overnight into Monday.

There are also a number of Travel Advisories affecting much of South Dakota and a portion of Brookings County including I-29 and Highway 14.

The City of Brookings has a Snow Removal parking ban in effect at 10:00 P.M., Sunday, December 29, 2019. All motor vehicles, implements, and trailers must be removed from all streets, alleys, and avenues until such streets have been cleared of snow from curb to curb. Violators will be subject to ticketing and towing.

Weather that includes heavy snow and high winds are making travel difficult in many areas across the state. The Winter Storm Warning has been extended to 12:00 Noon Monday. According to the National Weather Service road and weather conditions are expected to remain difficult overnight.
