Nine COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday; active cases continue to climb

Nine COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday. The statewide total is now 2507.

Active cases in Brookings County increase by 65 to 405. Seventy-nine new cases reported Wednesday, raising the total to 5968. Recovered cases are at 5522. There have been 41 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases increase by 1825 to 12,578. Total cases increase by 2254 to 185,284. There are 170,199 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations increase by 26 to 287.

Sixty-eight percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
