Name released in Saturday’s fatal crash near De Smet

Fifty-eight-year-old Michael Harger of De Smet man has been identified as the person who died early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash west of De Smet.

According to the South Dakota Highway patrol, Harger was driving a pickup U.S. Highway 14 when he lost control due to icy road conditions. The vehicle went across the roadway into the north ditch and rolled.

Harger was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
