Motorists rescued from high water in Rapid City area

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – Crews have been rescuing motorists stranded by flooding in the Rapid City area.
A driver was extricated from a vehicle after getting stranded by flash flooding in Rapid City Friday evening.
The driver called 911, and the Rapid City Fire Department responded with a 100-foot aerial platform. Emergency responders extended the ladder to the vehicle, and firefighters passed a life jacket through the car’s window to the driver, who was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Another motorist tried to drive through a flooded road and was swept away before being stopped by a tree. That driver also was rescued.
On Saturday, crews rescued a couple and their dog after their home in Box Elder was inundated with water and they needed help getting out.
