SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – First responders have rescued a man from a swollen river in Sioux Falls.

Police say the man was spotted in the Big Sioux River about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday upstream from Falls Park. Capt. Jeff Garden says life-saving efforts were made, but he does not know the man’s condition. Garden also didn’t know how long the man was in the water.

The bike trail system and many parks along the Big Sioux River are closed because of high water levels. Police say those who ignore the barricades could be fined more than $200.
