One man died Friday night in a motorcycle crash east of Brookings.

The motorcycle was westbound on U.S. Highway 14 when it drifted off the roadway, went into the north ditch and went airborne. It happened about 8:20 p.m., two miles east of town.

The 52-year-old driver was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

The man’s name is not yet being released pending notification of family members. He was the only person involved.
