A young man from Louisiana is injured in an accident early Monday morning on Interstate 29 in Brookings County.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says it happened at about 1:45 a.m. just south of Brookings.

A pickup driven by 18-year-old Jackson Mears of Zachary, Louisiana was traveling north when the he fell asleep. The pickup went into the east ditch, Mears woke up and tried to steer the truck back onto the road. he lost control and the vehicle rolled into the median.

Mears was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital with unknown injuries.
