The Arlington Fire Dept., Lake Preston Fire Dept., Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office, and the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office all respond to a corn pile on fire.
That was reported at about 2:20 Monday afternoon at Highway 14 and 209th Street. The corn pile, owned by Prairie Ag Partners, and the main station tower beneath it was on fire.
Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says the Fire Departments were able to extinguish the fire.
The cause is believed to be heat buildup in the pile of corn.
The tower is believed to be undamaged but will require an inspection. The corn that was lost is believed to be valued at $40,000.
