Handgun stolen from rural Brookings residence

The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of a handgun from a rural Brookings residence.
Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says the 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol was stolen from an unlocked camper outside a residence at 3250 Western Avenue. It was taken between 1:30 and 3:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon.
The silver and black pistol is valued at $500.
