Five more coronavirus deaths in South Dakota as active cases drop

Five additional coronavirus deaths reported in South Dakota Tuesday, raising the state’s total to 39. Thirty-four of them, including all five today, have occurred in Minnehaha County.

While positive cases increased again today, the number of active cases took a significant drop. Total cases increased by 49 to 3663. However, active cases dropped by 78 to 1315.

The number of people who have recovered is 2309 and current hospitalizations is at 74. The “ever hospitalized” category is at 271.

Brookings County remains at 14 cases with none of them active. There have been 428 negative tests conducted in Brookings County.
