Five COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday; active cases continue to fall

Five COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday. The statewide total is now 2665.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 127 to 1182. There were 23 new cases reported Wednesday, raising the total to 7891. Recovered cases are at 6666. There have been 43 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 1770 to 28,789. Total cases increase by 769 to 228,938. There are 197,484 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 11 to 355.

Seventy percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-seven percent have completed a vaccine series and 30-percent have received a booster.
