Five COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday; active cases fall

There were five COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Friday. The total is now 1768.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 2 to 154. Total cases are up by 8 to 3412. There have now been 34 deaths in Brookings County and there are 3224 recovered cases. The ever hospitalized number is at 118. The County is in the substantial community spread category.

Statewide, active cases drop by 77 to 3060. Total cases have increased by 160 to 107,955. The number of people who have recovered is 103,127. Current hospitalizations drop by 9 to 152.

Some 92,896 vaccinations have been administered in the state to 66,448 people. A total of 2524 doses have been given in Brookings County to 1758 people.
