The Bruce, Brookings and Estelline Fire Departments, Brookings County Sheriff’s Department and ambulances from Estelline and Brookings all respond to an early Saturday morning fire at a dairy northeast of Bruce.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebing says the call came shortly before 2:30 a.m. for the fire at 20165 468th Avenue.

Sebring says a vacuum truck used to clean bunkers in a barn caught fire while in use. The fire spread to the barn.

The fire departments were able to contain the blaze. There were no injuries and no livestock was hurt.

Damage to the barn is estimated at $100,000. The truck is a total loss and is valued at nearly $190,000.
