Early and absentee voting for the June 4th primary in South Dakota begins Friday.

To request an absentee ballot, voters need to submit an absentee ballot application form to the county auditor. Those forms may be requested from the county auditor or found on the Secretary of State’s website. Those voting by mail are encouraged to request an absentee ballot as soon as possible and return the ballot to the county auditor allowing sufficient time for delivery.

Voters also have the option to vote early in-person up to the day before the election.

Check with your local county auditor for voting hours. In Brookings County, it’s 8:00 am – 5:00 pm weekdays at the Government Center. In Brookings County, there is a Republican primary for County Commission and Republican state legislative primaries in Districts 7 and 8.

And, of course, polls will be open 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on election day.
