Dellas Cole is Sportscaster of the Year

Longtime “Voice of the Brookings Bobcats”, Dellas Cole, is the 2017 South Dakota “Sportscaster of the Year.'” The award is presented by members of the National Sports Media Association.
Cole received the award June 25th during the organization’s awards weekend in Winston-Salem, NC.
The NSMA annually recognizes a sportscaster and sportswriter in each state. Ryan Deal of the Mitchell Daily Republic was named Sportswriter of the Year.
Cole has broadcast Brookings High School football, basketball, volleyball and wrestling for the past 36 years. In addition, he has covered area high school sports, South Dakota State University, and local baseball and hockey games.
The South Dakota High School Coaches Association named Cole its “Sportscaster of the Year” in 1986, and he received a similar award from the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in 1997.
During his tenure, Cole has called games involving his son, stepson, step-daughter, and wife.
