Death reported in Watertown garage fire

One person has died in a garage fire in Watertown.

Watertown Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Tyler McElhany says fire crews were called to 1004 First Avenue Southeast at 8:30 Wednesday morning for a structure fire.

Firefighters immediately entered the duplex to search for occupants, but found no one.

Then they entered the garage and extinguished the fire and discovered one victim.

McElhany says the fire did not get into the residence, although there was smoke damage.
