City street paving to start Friday
From the City of Brookings:
Construction will be starting soon on the City of Brookings asphalt paving project. The contractor for the project is Bowes Construction, Inc. and the project will include milling the top layer of asphalt and paving an asphalt overlay. The contractor anticipates the milling operation will start on Friday, July 19, 2019, on the following streets:
- 8th Street South between Medary Avenue South and 22nd Avenue South
- Elm Avenue between 5th Street South and 8th Street South
- 7th Street South between Elm Avenue and Heritage Drive
- 12th Street South between 17th Avenue South and 22nd Avenue South
The work may take approximately 2 weeks and the anticipated schedule may be adjusted depending on weather. The public may experience traffic delays during the construction. We would also like to remind the public to be cautious when driving or walking through the project area.
The City is asking that vehicles do not park on these streets during the milling and paving work. Vehicles that are parked on the street during the milling and paving construction will be subject to towing at the vehicle owner’s expense. The City appreciates everyone’s patience during the project.
