MILLER, S.D. (AP) — Classes are canceled for the rest of the week at Miller High School where an explosion and fire caused heavy damage to the agriculture workshop.
All students and staff evacuated to nearby churches Wednesday morning. Authorities say six students and a staff member were in the shop at the time, but were not hurt. Officials say there is smoke damage throughout the entire school. It happened about 8:45 am.
The ag shop is located between the elementary and high school sections of the complex.
Superintendent Charlene Crosswait says administrators are working on a plan for the students’ return. An investigation into what caused the explosion and fire continues.
