Brookings police seek hit and run driver who struck bike rider
Brookings police are looking for a driver who struck a bicyclist and then left the scene.
Lt. Marci Gebers says it was reported shortly before 8:00 o’clock yesterday morning. A 17-year-old male says he was riding to school on 17th Avenue South and was turning west onto 5th Street South when he was struck by a car turning north onto 17th.
The bike rider says he believes the car cut the corner and he may have been hit by the driver’s side mirror.
The car is described as a white, early 2000’s model Toyota with South Dakota plates.
The driver was a white male with glasses and a trimmed, light brown beard.
The bike rider was taken to the hospital by private vehicle for treatment of minor injuries.
