Brookings police search for suspects in beating

The Brookings Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying three suspects in an assault last weekend.

Assistant Chief Derrick Powers says it was reported Monday after the victim visited the emergency room seeking treatment for injuries sustained in the attack.

It happened during the late evening of the 26th or early morning of the the 27th. The 40-year-old Brookings resident says he was attacked by three males while he was walking on the 1200 block of Second Street.

Powers says there was a verbal altercation prior to the assault. He says the victim was was struck several times and he may have been hit with some sort of object.

The suspects are described as white males, two of whom are in their early 20’s. The third is in his early 30’s.
