Brookings police report hit and run involving car and a motorized wheelchair

Brookings police report a hit and run accident that involved a car and a motorized wheelchair.

Police Lt. Joe Fishbaugher says It happened at about 6:45 Sunday evening on Main Avenue South.

A car was traveling North between the 1200 and 1500 block when it struck the motorized wheelchair that was heading South in the same lane.

The driver of the car fled the scene and did not render aid or call Police.

The driver of the wheelchair was treated at the scene by the Brookings Ambulance and released with minor injuries. The wheelchair had to be towed from the scene.

The driver of the car was located by Police and was arrested for felony hit and run, driving with a revoked license, aggravated assault against law enforcement, vehicular battery, and second offense DUI.
