Brookings police investigate woman’s death

The Brookings Police Department is investigating a death after a 44-year-old female was discovered unresponsive in a Brookings residence.

Shortly before 1:00 o’clock Wednesday morning, police were called to a residence in the 1000 block of Third Avenue. Life saving measures were attempted by first responders at the scene. The woman was transported to Brookings Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Brookings Police and the South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation are investigating the death.

Police say there is no threat to the public and additional details will be released as they become available.
