Brookings man charged with felony assault

A Brookings man is charged with aggravated assault after a reported fight.

Police Lt. Joe Fishbaugher says it happened at about 4:00 pm Wednesday on the 500 block of 5th Avenue South.

The suspect had fled prior to police arriving at the scene. During a search of the area, the suspect was located and arrested without incident.

Thirty-five-year-old Sean Franklin has been charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor obstructing law enforcement and a probation violation.

Fishbaugher says the parties had been drinking and Franklin alelgedly attacked the male victim without provocation. The victim suffered facial injuries.

He’s being held at the Brookings County jail on a $5000 cash-only bond.
