A Brookings man is arrested after displaying a loaded gun in a Brookings bar.

Assistant Police Chief Derrick Powers says it was reported at about 1:30 Thursday morning at a business on the 300 block of Main Avenue.

Police arrived and made contact with the man who claimed he had been showing the handgun to his friends.

The 21-year-old was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated. That’s a Class one misdemeanor with a maximum penalty upon conviction of one year in prison and/or a $2000 fine.
