Brookings police are investigating a fraud case that has cost a Brookings business nearly $15,000.
Police Lt. Marci Gebers says police were contacted by the business Wednesday afternoon. A number of bogus checks had been passed in Washington State on that businesses bank account.
It appears whoever passed the checks was able to obtain the businesses account information and print fake checks and then cash them.
Gebers says they’re working with Seattle police and federal authorities.
