Attempt to spin donuts ends in drunken crash

An Illinois man is facing a DUI charge after flipping his pickup while trying to spin donuts in a field.

Assistant Police Chief Derrick Powers says police received a call shortly before 4:30 Sunday morning that a pickup was flipped on its side in a field on the 2500 block of Sixth Street.

When police arrived, the driver came out of a nearby motel to meet them.

He was given sobriety tests and it was determined the man had been drinking.

The 26-year-old from Springfield, Illinois admitted he was trying to spin a donut when the truck apparently hit a drop off and tipped on it’s side. He was not hurt.
