A Brookings man who pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine to a minor and doing so in a drug free zone is sentenced to 10-years in prison.

Thirty-five-year-old Aaron Aspon earlier entered guilty pleas to the charges. He was given 10-years with five suspended on the distribution charge and 5-years for violating a drug-free zone, to be served consecutively.

Aspon sold drugs within 1000 feet of both Medary Elementary and Brookings High School.

Brookings County States Attorney Dan Nelson says law enforcement found a large amount of meth and evidence of distribution in Aspon’s residence.

He could have been sentenced to up to 35-years in prison.
