Arrests up at Sturgis Motorcycle rally

The annual Sturgis Motocycle Rally is under way in the Black Hills. So far, authorities have reported two traffic fatalities connected to the event. Through Monday, the South Dakota Department of Public safety has reported 45 arrests at the rally — up about a dozen from last year.

One of the biggest problems in Sturgis has been parking. Sturgis Police say they’ve given out 90 parking citations so far. Adding to the problem, residents are attempting to illegally barricade street parking by placing objects in the street in front of their homes.
